How to Choose a Trader to Copy

Published September 4, 2026 · 5 min read · TAG Markets Club

Not all traders are equal. This is how to identify traders worth copying: verified track record, reasonable risk, and consistent performance.

Find verified traders

Go to the "Copy Trading" section of TAG Markets. Browse available traders and their statistics.

Look for: Green monthly return trends, low drawdowns, and verified data on independent trackers like Myfxbook.

Read the statistics

Key metrics:

  • Monthly return: Average monthly profit %
  • Drawdown: Peak-to-trough loss (should be < 10%)
  • Win rate: Percentage of winning trades
  • Risk per trade: How much of capital is risked per trade
  • Followers: Number of people copying them

Verify their track record

Click "View on Myfxbook" or equivalent to see the independent verification. Real traders have transparent, audited data. If it is not independently verified, it is marketing—not fact.

Start with small allocation

Copy a trader with $10-50 first. Watch them for 2-4 weeks. Only if you are confident, increase allocation. This is your insurance against choosing wrong.

Frequently asked questions

Which trader should I copy?

Start with lower drawdown (< 5%) and consistent (not spiking) returns. Test with small amount first.

Can I copy multiple traders?

Yes. Diversify by copying 2-3 traders with different strategies.

What if my chosen trader loses?

It happens. Profitable traders have losing months. Stay the course if their strategy is sound.
